It was an eventful week for Kaizers Orchestra, with a natural highlight on Roskilde's biggest scene on Friday. In good Kaizer style, it wasn't completely free from drama either. It was Kaizers Orchestra in top form that entered the Orange Scene on 5 p.m. Friday afternoon. Naturally enough, this was a highlight for the band to get such a good spot on the prestigious festival.
- This is the biggest festival in Scandinavia, and of course it is cool for us to get the confirmation that we are one of the biggest bands in Scandinavia right now, Janove The Jackal Kaizer says.
The concert was a pure demonstration of power, and the orchestra from Norway had a great time in front of the about 50,000 spectators.
- The view was just fantastic, I had to take some moments to just enjoy that, really something of the best I have seen, The Jackal says, clearly impressed by the Kaizerfans.
- We have an incredibly loyal and fine audience. It's fantastic to see so many gathered in one place for a Kaizer concert.
The only little downside in the otherwise great success was that Øyvind Thunder Kaizer broke a string on the stand-up bass when he added a little extra during the presentation in Kontroll på Kontinentet, something that doesn't happen very often.
- I almost cannot even remember when that happened for the last time, the bass player says.
- I believe the last time was many years ago during a free-jazz concert with the sax-player Frode Gjerstad, or Frode G or the Big G, however you like. Of course that was in front of a few folks less, he-he, and the pulse was probably a little slower when the string was changed that time, yes. But it worked fine, we just had to change the string and move on, Janove took care of the audience and Helge was made 10 years older and everything turned out fine. In any case it was a fantastic experience to play there.
