Hobby artist Øyvind Thunder Kaizer will paint a painting on stage every night that will be sold at the end of the concert. This guy brims over with need to express himself.Tell us a little about your painting project, Øyvind.
- I use acryl paint, as this is water soluble and dries quickly. Additionally, this doesn't affect the artistic expression. We're not talking about compromises here. This will be a way of performance, momentary art if you want. I don't really have the time to work out things thoroughly during a concert, but I want to deliver, and the limitations only increase the challenge. I'm a dogma painter.
- Where would you place yourself, artistically?
- My expression is mostly non-figurative, I guess. I think up atmospheres from colors. The painting will be kind of an expression on how the concert is going and how I as a man am feeling that day, and this can vary of course.
- So are there any special colors you prefer?
- From the start, all colors have the same value of course, but if I must choose I think I prefer to explore nuances of blue, but as I said, the state of the mind will determine how the expression will turn out.
- And what everybody is wondering, will that influence your bass-playing?
- I don't think so, but during the first concerts I will need to find out how much time I can use for painting during the songs. Maybe I will need to ask for some time off during the presentation in Kontroll På Kontinentet, or hope that we play Min Kvite Russer.
- Will you do that on all tours from now on?
No, this will be a one-time thing. And I will auction off the finished material at the end of the show, or at the merch that night.
