Rock neck and hurting bones for the guys that once were so used to playing live, but well! They are out of training, but not out of shape for that matter. Kaizers had a stranglehold over Sziget festival in Hungary this weekend.

For the first time in Hungary, on an island in the Danube, between the city parts Buda and Pest, Kaizers Orchestra showed themselves at their best on Thursday, 9th of August. Between two heavy rain showers, the band took hold of about 10000 pleased festival people and worked them over until there were almost only happy festival faces left on the place in front of the main stage.

- Of course it was a kick for us to come to a country for the first time and get to play on the main stage, the same day as Chemical Brothers and Nine Inch Nails. This is not what you get every day in this business, where it often takes many years to build it up in a country.

- So this is probably the pay-off for the good efforts at other European festivals before?

- Probably, yes. Always nice for a festival to be able to present new good things for the people as well. You need some wild cards and surprises, and this was probably a bit of our role down here.

- Only two festivals this year, do you regret that you didn't do more?

- Naah, not really. We have played a lot during the last five years and decided to take a summer off. We like to have clearly defined periods, either we work harder than everybody else or we have some time completely off.

- Recordings in fall, what can you say about that?

- That we will come back with more information lateron. We are busy setting up things now, as we speak basically, but things look very promising in any case, that's something I can say already!

- Anything else from your first time in Budapest, you and Janove and Geir stayed a few days after the gig after all?

- We went to see The Hives on Saturday, they were really good. Apart from that, we ate something, took a bath, and wondered why Hungarians stuff in the letter z everywhere, szpion, sziget, szex shop. This is like a Harald Eia sketch coming to life.
