Kaizers Orchestra are ready for the gig in the capital on Wednesday!

- Nice to be back at Øya festival, yes. Geir Kaizer has a day off, but of course he takes the time for a little talk with Kaizernews anyway.

- I remember very well the last time we were there, in 2002. That time we had been in Kirkenes and Vadsø for three days just before, as far north in Finnmark as you can get, in full winter wrapping in sparsely populated areas. And so we came right into the best summer Oslo, to a headliner spot in front of 8000 people at a very nice festival. That was a great conclusion of a very eventful, fun and hard year.

- You were booked by Øya very early that time, so that was probably a bit of gambling?

- Øya got the scoop there, yes, you could probably say that. They booked us long before anybody had thought that oil barrel, pump organ and uvular r would hit it as big as it did. Smart and far-sighted of them. In general, they are very active and outreaching regarding who they book, so people can rely on seeing good things at Øya. It is a festival where you can discover new good things, and this is probably a bit of the secret why the festival is doing as well as it does.

- What are you gonna play at Øya, will we get some surprises?

- We thought we should actually play the whole Apocalypse dudes as well, to finally interpret it with oil barrel and pump organ, as this is what everybody waited for. No, we will play a bit of everything in our catalogue, and hopefully it will be really great.
