It has been an eventful summer for Kaizers Orchestra. Since the end of May, the band has played 33 concerts in Norway and abroad! Here they sum up some highlights!- For me, Frequency festival in Austria was a highlight, Janove "The Jackal" Kaizer says.
- This is a pretty big festival, capacity of 40000, and we had a slot on the main stage, one step up since 2006 when we played on the B-stage. And as Pete Doherty hadn't made the flight from London and Babyshambles had to cancel because of this, we had to play a bit later than planned, and a bit longer set. This is a big challenge to play for so many who don't know you, sing in Norwegian, play a long set and try to get on the big festival atmosphere! We managed this, and it was an enormous kick for us, maybe especially for me who does the job on the mike. That's the kind of moments I live for!
Rune Mink also points out Frequency as a highlight.
- There is a good karma around Kaizers live. When we came to Salzburgring (the Formula 1 track where the festival takes place) that day, it was raining cats and dogs, and the sky was completely gray. Just before we came on, it stopped raining, and while we were playing, the sun came out. In the end, there were 25000 people with their hands in the air during Sigøynerblod, screaming for more. That was the best, pure Roskilde festival 2002 atmosphere!
Helge Omen also has an Alpine country on the top of the list:
- Lumnezia, or is it called Degen? Don't really know. It was in Switzerland, in any case. Purely fantastic alpine nature and very good catering.
- And the concert was good as well? You played before Him that day?
- The playing went fine as well, yes. Saw the concert on DVD during the long drive home actually. Janove said that it was good.
- The Malmø concert now in August was really special!
Both Terje and Geir point out this one.
- Malmøfestivalen. A city festival over there, stages all over town. We have played club shows at KB in Malmø several times for about 500-600 people, but this gig was something really special. It felt as if we had gotten us a new home track. We managed to get a really magic atmosphere with the audience, as if we were raising each other up to new heights. We managed to get the little extra, that's what it felt like. That's great.
For Norwegian festivals, the band points out Øya festival and Slottsfjell festival in Tønsberg.
- We did many good ones in Norway in summer, Raumarock was also very good, even though it was pouring that day. Great atmosphere anyway. But Øya is special because it's got its own substance and gets so much attention. Apart from that, we got to play for many we know who had never seen us before. That was funny, Terje points out.
- The Tønsberg concert was great fun as well. Fantastic weather, intimate and nice atmosphere even though there were 8000 people there. A lot of fun, Geir says.
So all agreed that this had been a nice summer. So now we can look forward in excitement to this fall's 250 Prosent Tour!
