At a press conference at Rogaland Teater earlier today, the head of the theater, Arne Nøst, announced a local major venture, together with a few familiar faces from Kaizers and author Tore Renberg.

These four are actually planning to premiere the Kaizer play "Sonny" at Rogaland Teater in 2011!

The theater play is built around the lyrical universe from the first three Kaizer albums, Ompa til du dør, Evig pint, and Maestro. The text and the characters in the song lyrics form the main framework for the story, but the play itself will be written by the author and playwright Tore Renberg. So this is really a local major venture.

- From the first day people have told us that our music is very visual and cabaret-like, so considering that it has probably always been in the cards that one day, this material will be performed on a theater stage somewhere, Janove Kaizer says.

- At the same time, we felt that both the music and we ourselves needed to mature a bit before we would eventually do something, Geir Kaizer details.

- And we feel that we will now be on top when we first get going. Stavanger is our home grounds, we are fans of Tore's authorship, and we feel that Arne Nøst and Rogaland Teater are very enthusiastic and open. It fits very well to do this for our ten-year anniversary in 2011. An optimal summary of a different part of Norwegian rock history, really.

- This play will not be based on our 20 most downloaded tracks, and a story around it in Mama Mia style or something. It's the Kaizer lyrics, and the script that Tore builds out of them that are the foundation of this play. We will use those songs and that music that do the history and the atmosphere best justice. Kaizers Orchestra themselves will record new versions of their own music that will be used for this occasion, but the songs will of course be sung by the actors that perform the play. And we just have to wait and see who they are...
