Trondheim shows itself from its best side, and the happy Kaizer boys are enjoying themselves in the sun at Pstereo Festival. And for two of the front Kaizers, this day marks a special occasion; today it's actually 30 years ago, to the day, that Janove and Geir met!

Janove: Oh gosh, yes, that's true! 30 years go by fast in good company, hehe.

Do you remember anything from August 17, 1982, when you both started in grade 1b at Rosseland school?

Janove: I guess the details are a bit blurry after such a long time, but I remember the feeling, the expectations, and judging by the pictures from that time, I guess I was an excited little lad.

Geir: My parents are teachers, so you can imagine that for me, the start of school was well prepared. I recall that there were new sneakers, new pants, new shirt, and new knapsack. No way it should depend on the equipment! I even believe that my mom tried to force a comb through my hair that morning. It was definitely a big deal, indeed!

Did you two get into contact immediately?

Janove: We didn't live in the same street, so the first years I think we kept ourselves in safe waters with the kids from the street, but later on, when we learned to read and write ...

Geir: Around the age of 12, heheh.

Janove: ... Then I think things started to happen, as if we discovered something in the other that inspired and fed something that was already there, waiting for stimulus. In a lot of ways, our collaboration started then, while we were writing stories in Norwegian class with the other as intended recipient. Tried to come up with new twists and surprise the other all the time. Later we took that into music, where it turned into a more natural form of expression.

Geir: The funny thing is that this is what we are still doing nowadays, and we still inspire each other. One idea here continues to grow there and goes back and forth until it is often far from where it began and ends as something that none of us would have come up with on his own. That's a kind of magic. And in addition to that, of course, we both also often have our own finished ideas, but also there the confirmation from the other is an important part. We act as quality measures and bullshit filters for each other.

Well, congratulations on your anniversary then, and the Janove-Geir constellation will probably not stop at the 30 year mark?

Janove: No, we have big plans ahead. It's always most interesting to talk about the future, so that's what we do a great lot, in capital letters. We hope that the next 30 will also be rich in content. In any case, we will do our best to fill them with good things!
