Observing people that are up-to-date and expect efficiency have surely had other things to do, but many others seem to already have noticed that Kaizers Orchestra's new video has started to rotate on TV.For those of you interested in "the story behind it", we can tell that the video for Maestro was shot at a location in a small circus that is called Rolandos, just outside of Berlin.
- We had an idea about a circus setting, Janove Kaizer explains, who by the way had the experience of having knives thrown at him in the video.
- And after having spoken with three different Norwegian directors who didn't have the time to do the job, we had to take the step and go outside of Norway. Through Universal Germany we came into contact with director Uwe Flade and his company qfilm, they thought about the idea and came up with a location outside of Berlin.
Uwe Flade is German and has earlier also shot videos for Franz Ferdinand and Depeche Mode, among others. - How much time did you need, and who are the actors in the video?
- All the filming was done in one long day, so this was pretty fast, a time frame that German efficiency can keep well, you could say. The actors are basically all the people that worked in the circus. So they were only filmed in there natural roles. This was, by the way, a pretty small circus, so everybody had several responsibilities, the knife thrower was also the circus maestro and the dog trainer, and the snake lady sold roasted almonds after the snake show, for example. It was a little like us on tour, where Minken has the task to cook coffee additionally to playing the drums. We felt at home.
- Will there be more videos for the album?
- We plan to do another one, yes, for a song people haven't heard yet. It is maybe more "hit" and a little less Kaizers, actually. We will see.
- Are you going to win prizes for this video, what do you think?
- This was a lot of hassle for you today.
- Eh...
