In 1980, four guys from Stange formed the band Polish. They practiced in a barn and those passing by thought there was a practice going on for a chainsaw championship.Believe it or not. The band we're talking about here is the band that Janove and Terje loved in their youth. They celebrated the guys from Stange and both had their first big concert experience with the band. Actually, without knowing each other.
And a few weeks ago, they happened to meet one of the old heros in Hamar. Accidentally. Yes, that's what you can call it. This is how it happened:
After the concert in Mjøs, they were backstage - as always. Basically only known folks - as always. Until Janove got aware of a long-haired local cowboy over in the corner.
There are usually many of those after most concert at most places in Norway. So Janove didn't hesitate to give order to get the unwelcome out.
This is were things changed. The long-haired introduced himself. At once, the atmosphere got almost electric. Janove and Terje threw themself at the long-haired's clean toe-caps. They kissed his feet, let their hands glide clumsily over the unwelcome guest's legs, before they yelled in unison: Steinar Hagen. We love you!
That is because Hagen is identical to the guitar player in Polish. Steinar Hagen, to be exact. Janove's and Terje's old hero. The guys were in heaven.
Hagen still plays the plaits off the girls in Hedmarken. His band has shifted name, by the way.
Now they are called "Return".
