In today's Absolutt underholdning program, the nominees for this year's Spellemannspris were announced, and Kaizers Orchestra's album "Maestro" didn't make it among the five nominees in the rock-category.However, the nominees are Madrugada, Big Bang, Serena Mannesh, My Midnight Creeps and JR Ewing.
The Spellemannspris will be awarded on January 28th, this time without our clattering friends from the Westland. It is actually the first time since 2001 that Kaizers Orchestra neither play nor are nominated for an award.
- Well, now we got our suits cleaned after a long tour, so our clothes were prepared, but it's also fine to change a little to go to such awardings, Geir Hellraizer Kaizer comments dryly from his exile in Jæren.
- Does it bother you that you are not nominated?
- No. Luckily, such things are not the most important things for musicians. If others had decided, maybe we would have been nominated, but then some others would not have been nominated, so then they would have the feeling this was stupid. It's an absurd thing to compete in music anyway, and there are probably others that need the attention more than we do. We have an audience already.
- So what do you think about the nominees?
- Out of the five nominees I've actually only heard Madrugada's album, and that one is very nice. Seems like probably there will be a real Madrugada-party that night. They had a great year and absolutely deserve to be celebrated. As far as it goes, we have also had a fantastic year, so actually we are right where we should be.
- So you'll miss the Spellemannsnachspiel and everything?
- He he. We will get to be there again another time.
