Wohoo... time for a "little" news update. Today, the new Kaizers single "Philemon Arthur and the Dung" was released! You can listen to it on Soundcloud (or of course on Wimp or Spotify, if you have that), and you can buy it for example from iTunes or Amazon. Sadly, the single is only available digitally, but that's better than nothing, right? If you wonder why you seem to know the song already - that's not suprising: The song is one of the three songs that Kaizers published before their studio tour. So this is why the live video and the lyrics of the song are available here, and there's also a translation of the lyrics already. So, time to memorize the lyrics now!

Just in time for the new single, kaizers.no was relaunched in a new design. In the news, Janove explains that Kaizers chose "Philemon Arthur and the Dung" as first single because the song represents something completely new, while at the same time it is vintage Kaizers. I assume there will be a translated version of the news bit on kaizers.no soon, otherwise check back here...

Of course the press also reported about the new single. Here's a rough summary of what VG, Aftenbladet, NRK and Rogalandsavis wrote:
  • Violeta, Violeta features three main characters: Violeta, her crazy mother Beatrice, and her father Kenneth. The father takes Violeta away from her mother, and the mother is in deep sorrow. Mother and daughter meet in their dreams. After years of worrying, the mother decides to take cruel revenge on the father.
  • The first two records are done; the third not quite.
  • The three records of the trilogy are about the same lyrical universe, but the music is different - album I is based a lot on the piano, album II focusses more on guitars. And very important: The records are numbered with Roman numerals.
  • The songs of Violeta, Violeta can be compared to scenes of a movie. Reality and dreams are often blended. One line of a song leads to the next, and one song to another, which was a new way of composing for Janove.
  • There's all kinds of music on the records - except for ballads: hysterical rock and punk, James Bond themes, Michael-Jackson-like songs, R'n'B, Ompa, 3-,4-,5-,6- and 7-4 time. All at the same time.
  • All songs were composed on the piano. Next came oil barrels instead of drums, and the bass lines were composed on an organ. Geir was more involved in the composing this time than lately.
  • The first single is actually a waltz - but Kaizers managed to hide that very well in the song.
  • The record is the follow-up to Maestro, not to Maskineri.
  • According to Janove and Geir, the record is optimal. Simply perfect.
  • Before the final concert of the first Violeta, Violeta tour in Oslo on April 9, 2011, Kaizers will be on tour for six weeks. They'll visit Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
  • There will be a tour for each of the three records - and all tours will be different.
  • Nobody knows how Kaizers will continue after this three-year-plan. First, there will be a break, but it's not set yet how long this break will be.
Last but not least, Kaizers were also on the radio - check out the podcast here, and here is a little video.

Puuh... that was a lot of news for one day!
