The Kaizervirus is out! The first single "Aldri vodka, Violeta" - soon followed by other songs from the album - is now being spread among the fans through a mobile app that you can download from kaizervirus.com. Here's the press release about the Kaizervirus:
Kaizers Orchestra are launching a mobile app today, The Kaizervirus, which gives fans the opportunity to spread their music as virus. Now they leave it to one of their most dedicated fans - Steffen Berland from Rossland just outside Bergen - to spread the first virus "Aldri vodka, Violeta".

With the iPhone and Android application The Kaizervirus, it's the fans who decide who should first get access to tracks from the upcoming album Violeta Violeta Vol III. To get the songs, the phone must be infected by viruses that represent different songs. The infection spreads only when you are in physical proximity to a carrier. The more people are infected, the more viruses are released through the application.

From almost 1200 applicants, the band chose to put the responsibility for launching the first virus on Steffen Berland from Rossland.

- Steffen impressed us with his commitment and understanding of how viruses can be spread. He is genuinely concerned that fans will get access to the tracks as fast as possible. No matter if they are from Oslo, Namsos or Tvedestrand. Steffen will have to be considered Kaizers' seventh member in the days to come, Kaizers Orchestra singer Janove Ottesen says.

The application that is launched on www.kaizervirus.com today is the first of its kind and does not only give Kaizers Orchestra's faithful fans access to the songs first, but also control over the release of the album. The release date depends on how quickly the viruses spreads. In this way, it's the fans who decide when the album will be released.

- This is a pretty big responsibility, and I already feel the pressure from other fans who want the virus. I've got hundreds of new followers on Twitter and Instagram. And lots of friend requests on Facebook, Steffen Berland says. Now I'm going down to Torgallmenningen to meet friends and spread the first virus. After that, I'll try to get to Oslo to spread it further there, he continues.

The Kaizervirus is free and can be downloaded through www.kaizervirus.com
If you don't have a chance to get your phone infected (maybe because you don't live in Norway - just like me - or because your phone is not supported - just like mine), you can listen to this radio program where the Jackal plays a piano version of the first single. And you can now "officially" find the lyrics (and translation) of Aldri vodka, Violeta here. Enjoy!
