- Almost a year without an update here! Let's just blame it on Corona and not on my laziness, okay ...? =;-)
But well, no time to waste, let's summarize all the current news now!- This year in September, "Ompa til du dør" celebrated its 20th (!!) anniversary. And to give that the well-deserved celebration with all pomp and circumstance, Kaizers released a remastered version of the album, both digitally and in three different vinyl versions. The vinyls are (or rather, were ... ) available for sale here, together with a variety of "retro" merch.
But what does "remastered" mean, really? Kaizers Orchestra explain it like this on Facebook:It's a real difference. The original release feels so compressed that the music almost implodes, for example, in the transition to the choruses. With the new mastering, the music rather explodes, in the way that was always our intention. It's a lot more open, has much more energy, sounds louder and has more dynamics. Suddenly, the record brings back a lot of the live energy and tension that we were known for at concerts. We can only recommend all Kaizer fans to check out this remastered version.
- With this re-release, it seems Kaizers are waking up a tiny little bit from their hibernation - no clue if there is more to it or not, but as of late, there is a new official Kaizers channel on YouTube, and kaizers.no has suddenly made a resurgence as well, in a new and fancy design.
Do I smell an oil barrel here?
- Less official, but probably still interesting to most fans, is that there is a plan for a book about the "Ompa til du dør" record. It hasn't been written yet, but the crowdfunding project looks promising!
- And last but not least, Janove has released another solo album! In contrast to "Barrikadeballader", Janove recorded "Det sorte karneval" together with his band, and this is also how he will present it live in October and November.
And thanks to Tyler Herrmann (archduketyler), you can now check out the lyrics and translations of the songs! Tyler actually typed out the lyrics from Janove's background videos and translated them into English. A huge THANK YOU for that!
