My 46th Kaizers concert – and Shirin’s 50th. No doubt that something special would happen that night… =;-)
The Alte Feuerwache in Mannheim is a weird venue, somehow… it’s really cool in a way, but on the other hand there’s lots of pillars blocking the sight, don’t know. But well, as long as it’s Kaizers that are playing there… *g* Kaizers were sure they were playing in Mannheim for the first time, so they were really surprised about the audience’s response. OK, it was the first time they were in Mannheim – but as Heidelberg is right next to Mannheim, it doesn’t really count as a “first concert”. =;-)
Micke from Sweden was called up by a “Mr. Köhler” this time and asked to come and kill some rats, nothing else was new. Except that the rats came from Frankfurt this time, not from Belgium like yesterday… *g*
Then Kaizers came on, this time with a setlist mixed together from the “old” one of the first concerts and the “new” one of the latest: KGB, Hevnervals, Container, Bøn fra helvete, Ompa til du dør, Senor Flamingos adieu, Blitzregn baby, Kontroll på kontinentet, 170, Jævel av en tango, Dr. Mowinckel, Katastrofen, Di grind, Dieter Meyers Inst., Maestro, encore Gypsy Finale.
There wasn’t much talk in the beginning. One song right after the other. Before they played Senor Flamingo, Killmaster wanted a little more attention, as the Jackal only announced the whistling bass player. “And it’s a little bit about me as well!” But he apologized to Thunder afterwards for “stealing his show”… =;-)
After Kontroll på kontinentet, the Jackal wanted to know who had been at a Kaizers concert before – that were fairly many people, actually. And who is a “first-timer”? That was an impressive amount as well. So, he went on: Who has seen two Kaizers concerts? 3? 4? 5? … up to 10, there were some hands in the air everywhere, wow! Then the intervals increased, and up to 20, our “corner” of the audience was represented fairly well. At 30, it was only Shirin and me who had their hands in the air. I had to give up at 47, and well, Shirin’s 50th concert had to be celebrated, of course… =:-) Killmaster got out some champagne and glasses, and Shirin was ordered to come on stage, which she did more or less willingly. =;-) There she celebrated with the guys and had some champagne – only Omen had some small problems with that, it’s not that easy to drink champagne with a gas mask on, it seems. *lol* In the meantime, the Jackal advertised kaizers.de. *g*
Shirin was allowed to stay on stage (“Noooooooo!” *g*) for the next song, 170, so she could look at it from the other side once, being served by “Elvis” while she was sitting there.
Talking about “Elvis”, he was wearing a suit this time and not acting as Elvis. But there was some shouts for Elvis anyway… commented by the Jackal: “Yeah, where is he when you need him?” *g*
There was even more to celebrate than just Shirin’s 50th concert. Rune had his 30th birthday right that day. So of course the audience sang him a Happy Birthday, and there were lots of drinks on stage…
Before they played Dr. Mowinckel, the Jackal asked Hellraizer where this Dr. Mowinckel actually comes from. Germany? Or Austria? But Hellraizer was busy with his Gin Tonic, so he couldn’t answer right then. And a few minutes later: “Uh, what was the question?”
Before playing Dieter Meyers Inst., the Jackal started talking about the Swiss band Yello – and asked us to guess how their singer is called. Right – Dieter Meyer, of course. I think he’s spelled differently, but I’m too lazy to google right now… =;-)
So, that’s all I can remember. We had a lot of fun at the concert… and the band on stage had fun as well, it seemed. *g*
After the concert, we were NOT kicked out of the venue this time, very nice. But we didn’t stay very long anyway, as certain people needed to get on their way to Austria, which is not really right around the corner… I’m gonna skip that, enjoy my off-day today, and tomorrow I’ll be on my way to Switzerland, to get some cheap gas there… *gg*
