Kaizers Orchestra performed three completely new songs at Eurosonic festival in Groningen last weekend. Now you can listen to "Sju bøtter tårer er nok, Beatrice" on YouTube!The Kaizers gang is currently preparing the recordings of the new album. The next album will be recorded in Bergen in March, and when the opportunity to test out new material emerged in Holland, the guys didn't have to be asked twice. Both "Sju bøtter tårer er nok, Beatrice", "Philemon Arthur and the Dung", and "Femtakt filosofi" got to experience the step from the training field to the Premier League stadion in clog country. And that they now make their own bootleg recordings available to the common people is something new. We asked the chief ideologue Janove Kaizer about the new songs and about what happens in terms of bootlegs:
- We played at Eurosonic seven years ago. Back then, we overran the audience with a breathless gypsy and roof-on-fire package. That worked like a bullet, but it is not what we're doing anymore, so we found out that the occasion was perfect to start a new chapter on the same stage where we started a very good previous one! In addition, we also want to play something new now on this little Norway tour that we will play in February. So we picked three songs that we like and manage to play pretty well.
- And what is the reason that you put them up on YouTube?
- They will end up there anyway, mostly in poor, blasting recordings from mobile phones that are annoying to listen to, so we thought that we could rather do an okay version ourselves. We use a very simple DIY solution there, a real one-camera and one-mike production. We don't have the budget for anything other than GeezaProductions, so it is just to give people an impression of the songs, a notch better than the mobile phone versions.
- Does that mean that we'll get to hear the other two new songs as well before the Norway tour?
- Yes, we are planning to put up a new song every Monday until the tour starts, so that the fans get to know them a bit before they get to hear them live at the concert!
