On the occasion of the release of "Våre demoner", Kaizers Orchestra sent out "Die Polizei" as radio single. You can hear it on P3 from today! For those of you who wonder what c-listing means, we can inform you that this means that the single is played about once per day, at some randomly chosen time, with the possibility to move up or down on the list, all depending on whether the P3-tribunal gives thumbs up or down on its music meetings every Monday.
It seems that again this time, there is no danger of getting tired of a Kaizer single.
- We'll see, it might happen that it goes up. It is common to start a single calmly in order to jack it upward on the list if the Norwegian listeners like it, an optimistic Janove The Jackal Kaizer says from the winter vacation paradise Sirdalen.
- As usual, we don't have a surefire single. We have nine potential candidates, and two that we regard as not very fitting for that format. This is how it usually is. You'd better ask Marit Larsen if you wonder how it feels to be a winner on the radio charts!
- I understand, and in addition, it is a ballad, which doesn't make things easier normally?
- No clue. What I know is that this song got a very special history. This was basically what made us choose it as single now. It followed us through all of Norway and Europe, as a faithful travel companion. It never got angry at us because we didn't record it, and it has always performed bravely at the end of the most memorable of our concerts. Like a monument it stood and held the audience warm and singing along long after we went off stage. In a way, it personified the bonds between Kaizers and the fans, and that people know the lyrics of the song without it being released shows a higher-than-average devotion of the fans. So now we set the table with all kinds of food, and we dished up an arrangement that glows of grandeur, almost megalomaniac, actually. Finally, Die Polizei gets to get up on the podium and shine, also on a record. It feels a bit like finally giving Kjakan Sønsteby the medal that he deserves for his efforts in the war. Five long years...
- Uh... Are you taking off a bit now, maybe?
- You must remember that I'm standing here and looking over the Sirdal-alps. Of course this affects you. You can get palpitation of less than that.
Well. We hope you like what you hear if you are lucky enough to catch the studio version of "Die Polizei" on P3!
