SOLO: Janove Ottesen has now released a new single.Ottesen and his new record company EMI Virgin have just released the single "Go tell her" which is totally contrary to what we have heard from Kaizers.
- This is very different from Kaizers, it's more relaxing, not so intense. It should be good music to have in the background and it's directed more towards the radio, not live like Kaizers, yet I believe that we should have a nice live show. Additionally, the single and the rest of the record are in English and not Jærsk, says Ottesen, who, by the way, will marry this weekend.
About the contents of the record, Ottesen can reveal that there will be something for every taste:
- It will be a good mixture of pop, rock, country and singer/songwriter, but if the record should not strike, that is no catastrophe for me or the record company. It was a cheap record to produce, and we only needed 12 days in the studio, reveals the musician from Bryne, who at the same time admits that his personal goal is to attain gold certification.
At the same time he says that he does not take the bad criticism of VG's reviewer too hard , but he admits that he would have preferred if the mentioning had been positive.
- Of course it was a pity that I got bad criticism, but what she wrote seemed little elaborate, especially that on its resembling Oasis' Wonderwall.
Now it should be mentioned that she who wrote for VG was a summer substitute, and the record got much more positive reviews in the Stavanger Aftenblad.
What now with Kaizers?
According to what Jærbaldet came to know, there is no reason for sorrow for all Kaizers fans, the follow-up to "Evig Pint" will be out in the course of 2005.
- One of the reasons why I made this solo record was that I sat around with a lot of music that didn't fit the style Kaizers have, and of course that it fit well in terms of time. Also, I got the chance to see whether I can make music in different genres, and this is what I find very useful, says the eager musician.
Ottesen also has plans to go on tour for two, three weeks in November/December, and for those who would like to hear him live he can promise that there will be a concert in Folken in Stavanger. Ottesen talks also warmly about the team(?) that has helped him to record the album.
- They are without doubt among the best musicians in the country, and that meant enormously much.
About the single "Go tell her", Ottesen describes it as half-melancholic and tells at the same time that it is really one of the oldest songs on the upcoming record. So it only remains to be seen whether it will be a hit on Norwegian radio in the time coming.
