Kaizers Orchestra needed less than half an hour on Norway's most stylish scene, Prekestolen, to impress smug folk from the music sector.Bird's eye view of Kaizers Orchestra. The band's german fans love pictures like this. Great nature, great music.
Prekestol, 597 meters over sea level, Saturday afternoon, some minutes after 2 o'clock:
- We're bringing rock'n'roll back to where it belong. To the mountains.
Kaizers boss and Kaizers singer Janove Ottesen stands in front of his beloved band in the usual unhumble way. After some solo-months he is back in band-mode.
Spectacular
The Kaizers concert on the Prekestol must have been the band's coldest ever. And probably the most spectacular.Foreign journalists from music magazines NME, Mojo, british papers and German magazine gaped at the brilliant view from the plateau - and at the jagged dangerous rock faces all around. Some of them showed up in polished leather shoes and sailed around in the snow on the Prekestol-plateau like tipsy penguins.
The mini concert was an extra goodie in connection with the club festival by:Larm in Stavanger. 40-50 helicopter tours took place between Thursday and Saturday afternoon in order to get this all going.
Four new songs
Kaizers Orchestra played seven songs. The three old war elefants "Evig pint", "Bøn fra helvete" and "Kontroll på kontinentet" together with three new. The band concluded with the unbelievably rough and nice "Maestro": Clear guitar theme, amusement park atmosphere and gigantic chorus. This one and the other three new songs will appear on the third Kaizers album, which the band is working on in the studio right now. The album is planned for August.
People from Civil Protection in Strand had in advance layed out almost two tons of salt and sand on the way up to the Prekestol from the Prekestol hut. They also helped the people who needed something to drink or soothing words.
No smug business people died on the exhausting tour. Also didn't dance until they died.
