It's not bad to get three pages in Dagbladet, just by a five minute interview. Geir Kaizer managed that, and even without trying.According to today's Dagbladet, all of Kaizer Orchestra are at the edge of suicide because of tinnitus torments and noise pain. It is impossible how bad it is. Actually it's only the suits that hold them up, it seems. Or maybe it's only the papers that need headlines now again?
- The phone rang, it was some weeks ago, and a lady asked how it was going with the hearing after all the noise we experience daily on tour, and just to be polite I answered that yeah, the hearing was fine, and that we use special earplugs when we play, to protect us.
- Yes, well, that sounds like a sensation! Weird that it didn't result in five pages when you say it like this!
- Yes, absolutely. Then she asked if we had tinnitus or buzzing in the ears, and I answered that yes, there was a little buzzing, but that this wasn't too bad, and additionally I pointed out that Janove just had his hearing tested, and he scored full in that and everything's great, but that didn't fit in with what she was writing, of course.
- Aren't you used to media, so that you should know to shut up once in a while, Geir?
- yeah...
- Huh! Didn't hear you!!
- Eh... So, I mean it's good that Dagbladet takes up this subject, because I think that hearing damages will become more and more of a problem for the generations that are growing up now, and the alternatives for treatment are almost in a deadlock in Norway, but there should be another way to confront something like this, gosh. I told her she should rather contact Madrugada, as they thanked a tinnitus clinic in Estonia when they won the Spellemannspris a few years ago. That's something to report about.
- Maybe they were smart enough to keep their mouths shut?
